As The Days Go By
(Josh Campbell-Brian Weber - 7/96)

As the days go by
Memories are calling me
Uprising faces of a world I had forgotten
Have come to me again
As the days go by
There's a trail of photographs
The distant past has come full circle now to greet me
Our time has come again

We went swimming in the ocean
We listened to the liquid voice
And we felt the cleansing water
Pouring from the sky above

As the years go by
I press on towards tomorrow
But I'm anchored by the time we spent together
Life through a child's eyes
As the years go by
Forgetting where I have come from
Love that shaped us both will bring us back together
But till then I cry

As the days go by
I draw closer to my destiny
Uprising faces of a world I had forgotten
Come to me again
As last days go by
We'll be brought back together
Like two rivers we'll be poured into the ocean
We'll be free again

We'll go swimming in that ocean
Listen to the liquid voice
As we feel the cleansing water
We look to the Son above

music: Josh Campbell
lyrics and melody: Brian Weber

notes: This is one of the first songs Josh C and I wrote together. He had come up with this cool acoustic guitar pattern that conjured up these feelings of nostalgia and reflection in me. The song is about getting older and looking back on the people and things that shaped who we are today. And while there is a sadness in losing touch with key people in our past there is a hope that we will one day be reunited in a better place after this life is over. -- Brian Weber
